Preksha J. Patel is an Associate Attorney at Thakkar Family Law, where she focuses her practice on divorce and family law matters. She earned her law degree from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law in 2017 and completed her undergraduate studies at Temple University, where she majored in political science. Preksha was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in May 2022.
Before joining Thakkar Family Law, Preksha worked for three years as an associate attorney at a family law firm in Hunterdon County. She also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Kurt Kramer, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Division, Camden County, and to the Honorable James J. Ferrelli, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Division, Burlington County.
Preksha’s commitment to family law and advocacy began during law school, where she volunteered with the Domestic Violence Assistance Program and served as a student member of the New York City Bar Association’s International Human Rights Committee. She later volunteered overseas with the Human Rights Law Network in Mumbai, India, supporting work on behalf of victims of domestic violence.
Preksha grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, before moving to Middlesex County as a teenager. She comes from a large, close-knit family and is one of 12 cousins, whom she considers to be like siblings. Outside of her legal practice, Preksha enjoys true crime, learning about ancient civilizations and archaeological discoveries, exploring music and food from around the world, and dance. She has 14 years of training in Indian classical dance and currently attends hip-hop dance classes.
Preksha speaks three languages and is currently learning Spanish.
